# Adding a Plan to Your Prep

Plans are the daily schedules that you create for each prep. You can link standards, lessons, resources, instructional strategies, and assessments to your plans to meet the needs of each class.

> [!NOTE]
> **Note:** The Assessments feature is available to Aware Premium users. To learn more, see [Aware Integration](/v1/docs/integrating-beacon-with-aware).

> [!NOTE]
> **Note:**You cannot edit planners from past years. Once the end date of an instructional calendar has passed, the calendar is locked, and you can no longer make changes to preps, plans, or units for that year. If you want to reuse an older plan, you can [copy plans from a past year](/v1/docs/copying-a-prior-year-plan) to an active planner then make adjustments to the plan as needed.

## Quick Guide

1. Select **My Planners** from the main menu.
2. Open the prep to which you want to add a plan.
3. Choose whether to start from a saved **Plan Template**, a **Blank Plan**, or choose **More Templates**… to access more template options.
4. Customize your plan by typing notes inside the block, dragging content from the **Curriculum Explorer**to the block, and assigning a color to the block. Your changes save automatically.
5. Select the**Add block** icon ( add_circle_outline ) to add more blocks to your plan.
