# Common Icons in Beacon

The table below explains the meanings and usage of icons that appear throughout Beacon.

| Icon | Name | Usage |

| help_outline | Help | Opens the knowledge base where you can access tutorials and search for more information about specific topics in Eduphoria applications. (That’s where you are now!) |
| calendar_today | My Planner | Use My Planner to organize preps, create plans, and view your schedule on a daily or weekly basis. |
| note_add | Templates | Templates help other users quickly build out new curriculum content, such as courses, units, and lessons. |
| collections_bookmark | Courses | Courses are structured programs of instruction centered on a specific subject and grade level. |
| assignment_turned_in | Strategies | Strategies are tags that can be applied to lessons and preps. |
| attachment | Attachments | Any document or attachment associated with a curriculum component. |
| share | Relationships | Standards, strategies, files, and other curriculum components that are linked to the component that you are viewing. |
| info | Information | Displays additional details such as the curriculum component’s duration, information, and a table of contents. |
| keyboard_arrow_right keyboard_arrow_down | Expand | Expands a section or row to show additional information or options. |
| keyboard_arrow_left keyboard_arrow_up | Collapse | Collapses a section or row to hide additional information or options. |
| preview | Preview | Opens the component in a preview window. |
| palette | Color Palette | Allows you to filter color coded blocks on the Planner. |
| screen_rotation_alt | Planner Orientation | Changes the Planner to be in vertical or horizontal orientation. |
| calendar_month | Calendar | Opens a calendar where you can select a specific date and display information based on that date. |
| today | Today | Takes your Planner view to today’s date. |
| exit_to_app | Day 1 | Opens your Planner view to Day 1 of the Instructional Calendar. |
| manage_search | Curriculum Explorer | Opens the Curriculum Explorer pane. |
| person_add_alt | Share | Invite people or teams to your prep or curriculum components. |
| check_circle | Visible Prep | Makes a prep visible on the Planner. |
| circle | Hidden Prep | Hides a prep on the Planner. |
| search | Search | Allows you to filter a list or table to show entries matching the search criteria. |
| more_vert | More Actions | Expands a drop-down menu containing more options. |
| add add_circle_outline | Add | Opens a window where you can enter information to create something new. |
| upload_file | Import | Opens a file manager window where you can select a file to upload to Beacon. |
| add_link | Link Existing | Allows you to link a resource that has already been uploaded to Beacon. |
| create | Edit | Allows you to make changes to the selected item. |
| delete | Delete | Deletes the selected item. |
| drag_indicator | Move | Click and drag to change the order in which things appear. |
| dashboard | Hub | The Hub serves as the main view for a course or unit. Using the Hub gives you a high-level overview of the standards and curriculum components currently linked to the course or unit and allows you to add, edit, and access them. |
| article | Editor | The Editor is a built-in word processor within Beacon. This handy tool allows you to create documents such as templates, course syllabi, unit outlines, lessons, activities, and more. |
| picture_as_pdf | PDF | Indicates that the file is a PDF. Selecting a PDF file opens the file in the Attachment Viewer. See the Attachment Viewer section below for more information. |
| star_outline | Favorite / Primary | Indicates that the item has been marked as a favorite or as a primary file. |
| sell | Tags | Tags are used in Templates to help identify and quickly locate certain templates using key terms. |
| format_bold | Bold | Applies bold formatting to text. |
| format_italic | Italic | Applies italic formatting to text. |
| format_underlined | Underline | Underlines text. |
| insert_link | Link | Indicates a linked item or allows you to create a hyperlink from highlighted text, depending on context. |
| link_off | Unlink | Removes the relationship between two linked items. |
| format_color_text | Font Color | Allows you to change the font color. |
| format_color_fill | Highlight | Applies highlights to text. |
| colorize | Eyedropper | Used to select a color, most often used to apply a color to fonts or highlights. |
| format_list_bulleted | Bullet List | Starts a bulleted list. |
| format_list_numbered | Numbered List | Starts a numbered list. |
| image | Image | Opens a file manager window where you can select an image to insert or attach. Also indicates an uploaded image file. |
| table_chart | Table | Inserts a table. |
| tag school | Standard | Indicates a standard or a section for standards. |
| folder | Unit | Indicates a unit or a section for units. |
| assignment | Lesson | Indicates a lesson or a section for lessons. |
| file_copy | Resource | Indicates a resource or a section for resources. |
| assessment | Assessments | Indicates an Aware assessment or a section for Aware assessments. |
| date_range | Duration | Indicates how many days a unit lasts. |
| open_in_new | Open | Opens a unit or lesson in a new tab. |
| **Icons in the Attachment Viewer** |
| menu | Menu | Expands or collapses the page navigation menu. |

| print | Print | Opens the Print window, allowing you to print the file. |
| more_vert | More actions | Expands a drop-down menu with the following options: - **Two page view** – Displays two pages at once. - **Annotations** – Turns annotations on or off. - **Present** – Opens the file in presentation mode. This option is not available in the Beacon attachment viewer. - **Document properties** – Displays file information. |
