# Creating a New Student Inventory Type

The student inventory system allows districts to define the structure and necessary criteria for collecting specific data for inventories such as TPRI, DRA, DRA2, TEMI, DIBELS, Fountas & Pinnell, etc.

## **Creating a Student Inventory Type**

Users with the **Create Student Inventory Tests**right can create and edit student inventory types.

> [!NOTE]
> **Note:** New student inventory types will not appear in the inventory table until the following have occurred: 1) All settings for the student inventory type have been completed including a **Title**, **Subject**, **Language**, **Terms**, and at least one **Score Level**. 2) A user has created a **Student Inventory Assessment** that is associated with the new **Student Inventory Type**.

New student inventory types that are incomplete or that do not have a student inventory assessment associated with it can be found in [**Configure Student Inventory Types**](/v1/docs/assessments-settings#configure-student-inventory-types) within **Assessments Settings** ( settings ).

English is the default language. Either rename the language or enter additional languages in the text box below English. Hit the **Enter** key or click the **Plus** icon to add the language.

Repeat this same process to add all the terms for the inventory type. Make sure the green plus is selected to add the last term; otherwise, it won’t be added. To reorder the terms or languages, click and drag the double blue arrows. To delete an entry, click the red**X**.

> [!NOTE]
> **Note:** The inventory can only be saved once a user has entered a Language, Term, Overall Level, and Task Level.

**Step 5:**Establish the **Overall Levels** and **Task Levels**under the **Score Levels** tab.

To add an entry, enter the level, choose a color to represent the level, and click the **Plus** icon. To delete an entry, click the red **X**. To reorder the entries, click and drag the double blue arrows.

**Step 6:**Click **Save** ( save ) once you have finished setting up the inventory type. You can now [add student inventory assessments](/v1/docs/creating-a-new-student-inventory-assessment) to the inventory type, and each assessment will inherit these inventory settings.
