# Creating a Team Test

Only teachers who are included in at least one teacher team can create team tests. Reference [Options for Creating Assessments](/v1/docs/options-for-creating-assessments) to learn which assessments are available for creation.

> [!NOTE]
> **Note:**District and school assessments cannot be shared with a team or copied into a teacher test. Only team tests can be copied into a teacher test, and then the teacher test can be copied into a school- or district-level assessment.

> [!WARNING]
> **Caution:**Once a teacher test is converted into a team test, it is no longer a teacher test. Teachers who wish to keep versions of teacher tests should [make a copy of the existing assessment](/v1/docs/options-for-creating-assessments#copy-test-unde-actions) and convert only that copy.

## **Quick Guide**

1. Select **Author**( create )****from the Assessments section of the main menu.
2. Click on the assessment that you want to share with a team.
3. On the **Administration**tab, select **Share With Team**.****
4. From the **Select a Team** drop-down, choose the team you want to share the assessment with.
5. From the **Select a New School-Level Test Type** drop-down, choose a new test type to assign to the team test.
6. Select the checkbox to use the performance levels from the new test type, or leave the box blank to preserve the existing performance levels from the original test type. If selected, you can adjust the new test type’s performance levels as needed.
7. Select **Convert Test**.

If you don’t have an assessment ready, you can create a teacher test by selecting **New Assessment**under **Author**.

It is up to the test author to determine how much of the teacher test to complete before converting it to a team test. Some teachers will have several teacher tests from previous years that they have already completed.

**Step 2:**Filter the list to locate the teacher test that you want to share with a team. Select the assessment title to open the assessment.

**Step 3:**Navigate to the **Administration** tab of the assessment and select **Share With Team** in the top toolbar.

> [!NOTE]
> **Note:** Only select a test type that your district or school has agreed should be used for team tests. Some districts include test types with names like "District Benchmarks" that are meant to be used for other types of assessments. Aware district managers can [configure test types](/v1/docs/creating-and-configuring-test-types) to assist with this process.

**Step 6:**If you want to use the performance levels associated with the test type you selected, select the **Use Performance Levels from the new Test Type** checkbox, or leave the box blank to preserve the existing performance levels from the original test type.

If you select this checkbox, the [performance levels](/v1/docs/setting-performance-levels-for-individual-assessments) controls appear. Adjust the new test type’s performance levels as needed.

> [!NOTE]
> **Note:**Team members can make future adjustments to performance levels from the [**Test Key** tab](/v1/docs/building-a-quick-test-key), regardless of whether the team test uses performance levels from the new or previous test type.

**Step 7:**Select **Convert Test** when ready. The updated assessment is now available to the selected team.
