# Deleting Items and Banks

You can delete outdated questions, resources, prebuilt tests, or entire custom item banks from the **Custom Item Banks** screen.

> [!NOTE]
> **Note:**Deleting an item removes it from the custom item bank. However, the item continues to exist in any assessments that use it and in any new assessments that are created by copying assessments that contain the item. Once deleted, the item cannot be used again from the custom item bank.

## Quick Guides

### Deleting an Item

1. Select the **Item Bank Settings**gear icon ( settings ).
2. Choose **Manage Custom Banks**.
3. On the **Custom Item Banks** screen, select the custom item bank you want to edit.
4. Select the tab for the item type you want to delete: **Questions**, **Resources**, or **Prebuilts**.
5. In the row for the item you want to delete, select the **Delete**icon in the **Action**column ( delete ).
6. In the resulting confirmation window, select **Delete**to confirm that you want to delete the item.

### Deleting Multiple Items

1. Select the **Item Bank Settings**gear icon ( settings ).
2. Choose **Manage Custom Banks**.
3. On the **Custom Item Banks** screen, select the custom item bank you want to edit.
4. Select the tab for the item type you want to delete: **Questions**, **Resources**, or **Prebuilts**.
5. Select the checkbox for each item that you want to delete.
6. Select the **Delete**button that appears above the item table ( delete ).
7. In the resulting confirmation window, select **Delete**to confirm that you want to delete all selected items.

> [!NOTE]
> **Note:**The bulk **Delete**button only appears above the item table when multiple rows are selected.

### Deleting a Custom Item Bank

Deleting a custom item bank requires a few verification steps and cannot be reversed. Items are not deleted from existing assessments when the bank is deleted.

> [!CAUTION]
> **Warning:**You cannot restore a custom item bank that has been deleted. Only delete banks if you are certain your district will never use any of those items in the future.

1. Select the **Item Bank Settings**gear icon ( settings ).
2. Choose **Manage Custom Banks**.
3. On the **Custom Item Banks** screen, locate the bank you want to delete.
4. Select the **More Actions**ellipsis icon ( more_vert ) in the **Actions** column.
5. From the drop-down menu, choose **Delete Item Bank**( delete ).
6. In the resulting confirmation window, select **Delete**to confirm that you want to delete the entire custom item bank and all of the questions, resources, and prebuilt tests that it contains.

**Step 3:**On the **Custom Item Banks** screen, select the item bank to edit.

**Step 4:**Select the tab for the item type you want to delete: **Questions**, **Resources**, or **Prebuilts**.

**Step 5:**In the row for the item you want to delete, select the **Delete**icon in the **Action**column ( delete ).

**Step 6:**In the resulting confirmation window, select **Delete**to confirm that you want to delete the item.

### Deleting Multiple Items

**Step 1:**From the main menu, select the **Item Bank Settings**gear icon ( settings ).

**Step 2:**From the resulting drop-down menu, choose **Manage Custom Banks**.

**Step 3:**On the **Custom Item Banks** screen, select the item bank to edit.

**Step 4:**Select the tab for the item type you want to delete: **Questions**, **Resources**, or **Prebuilts**.

**Step 5:**Select the checkbox for each item that you want to delete.

**Step 6:**Select the **Delete**button that appears above the item table ( delete ).

### Deleting a Custom Item Bank

Deleting a custom item bank requires a few verification steps and cannot be reversed. Items are not deleted from existing assessments when the bank is deleted.
