# Editing a Rubric Assessment

Rubric assessments help evaluate students’ skills and knowledge on a performance or project. They provide a clear, transparent grading scheme and help students understand the teacher's expectations.

Once you have [created a rubric assessment](/v1/docs/creating-a-rubric-assessment), you can edit its details to fit your needs.

## **Editing a Rubric Assessment**

### **Quick Guide**

1. Select the rubric assessment you wish to edit.
2. Update assessment details, including the title, subject, test type, grade level, and associated courses, under the **General** tab. Upload a reference document if needed.
3. Select the **Plus (+)** buttons to add new criteria under the **Questions**tab.
4. Use the arrows or drag and drop the grading criteria sections to rearrange them as needed.
5. Add new items by selecting the **Plus** button. Edit an existing item using the **Pencil** icon, or duplicate an item by pressing the **Copy** icon. Delete items by selecting the **Trash Can** icon.
6. Change the assessment’s status to **Pending**, **Active**, or **Archived**.
7. Select the **Administration**tab to rescore the assessment, clear individual test entries, or delete all test entries. Adjust the start and end dates students can take the test if the rubric assessment is a campus- and district-level rubric.

**Step 1:** Select the rubric assessment you wish to edit.
