# Editing Views as a Teacher

Teachers can build their own custom **Quick Views** to review and analyze data pertinent to their students effectively. Here, a “teacher” user refers to any rostered teacher or a user who has approved Student Access Lists.

> [!NOTE]
> **Note:** Teachers may edit data views only if the local Aware administrator has enabled the [**Allow Teachers to Edit Data Views** setting](/v1/docs/configuration-options).

## **Editing Data Views as a Teacher**

### **Quick Guide**

1. In **Aware**under **Analysis**, select **Quick Views** to view a list of assessments.
2. Use the filter options to locate the test with the data you wish to view, or select multiple tests to compare.
3. Under **View Template**, choose which template to apply. Toggle on or off **Summarize by Subject**, then select **Apply**.
4. Select the **Edit** button to view and add assessment data.
5. Select the tests to which the data view should be applied.
6. Select the data fields in the **Columns** tab for the data view.
7. Select any demographic information in the **Summarize** tab for the data view.
8. **Save** changes to the data view.

### **Illustrated Guide**

**Step 1:**In **Aware** under **Analysis**, select **Quick Views** to view a list of assessments.

**Step 2:** Use the filter options to locate the test with the data you wish to view, or select multiple tests to compare.

**Step 3:** Under **View Template**, choose which template to apply. Toggle on or off **Summarize by Subject**, then select **Apply**.

**Step 4:** Assuming the local Aware administrator has [enabled teacher editing of data views](/v1/docs/configuration-options), teachers will select the **Edit** button to view and add assessment data.

If a teacher toggles on **Summarize by Subject**, the system automatically checks the box for **Summarize Selected Tests** and selects **With Subject Results**.

> [!NOTE]
> **Note:**The **Summarize by Subject** option summarizes by subject across groups instead of summarizing by subject across tests.

**Step 5:** Select the assessments to which the data field will be applied by dragging them from the list on the left side of the window.

![add_test_to_data_view.png](https://cdn.us.document360.io/d6ce927e-20b2-40ab-af8d-ea0afbbc28f7/Images/Documentation/12789804855831.png)

There are no restrictions on the order or number of assessments allowed. However, it is best practice to place multiple tests in chronological order (oldest to newest).

**Step 6:**Select the data fields in the **Columns** tab to be used in the data view. The checkbox for **Include Students Who Were Not Scored** will include students who have test entries created in the data that have yet to be scanned or submitted.

Filtering is also available on the Columns tab. Select the field that needs a filter, select the **Add Filter** button, and then set the criteria for the logic statement that applies to that particular field. Filtering can be done on multiple fields, and multiple filters can be added to a single field by selecting the Add Filter button more than once.

**Step 7:**Select the **Summarize** tab, then drag and drop the desired demographic fields to the data view.

To show the data you’ve selected during the process, click **Update**. This action does not save any built data view.

**Step 8:** **Save** changes to the data view.
