Shortcuts to Entering Curriculum (Video Tutorials)

This article provides a general guideline for creating a curriculum in Forethought. Your curriculum might differ from the examples below based on your district's needs, but overall, this is a good guide for delegates or curriculum managers entering the curriculum for Forethought.

Navigate to Manage tab > Manage Learning Standards > Courses to get started.

Updating Learning Standards in Courses

  • Go to Check > Select > Import.

  • Importing selected standards adds a folder of learning standards to the course for Forethought.

  • Keep learning standards for Aware Tests selected.

Copying a Template into Courses

  • Control/Command key for selecting multiple folders.

  • Select (CTRL-Click), Copy, select the course, select the target folder in the course, Paste.

  • Copy more units as needed.

Editing Folders and Groups

  • Double-click to edit.

  • Rename Units and add # Days. (This feature is utilized in the lead4ward package for curriculum views.)

Deleting Folders and Groups

  • Select (CTRL-Click), Cut, select the Trash course, select the target folder in the course, Paste.

  • When cutting a folder from one course to another, select the target folder before clicking Paste.

Creating a Trash Course

  1. Go to the Manage tab > Manage Course Tree.

  2. Click on the name of the district.

  3. Click New Course.

  4. Type Trash and click Save.

  5. Click Cancel to stop entering new courses.

  6. Click Publish Tree in the bottom right corner.

  7. Go to Manage Learning Standards.

  8. Click on the new Trash course that you created.

  9. Click New Group.

  10. Title it Click HERE first, then click Paste. Do not publish this course.

  11. Publish the course now.

  12. When your Trash gets full, click Discard. All of those folders and standards added since the last publish date will be deleted, and you will save yourself a ton of time!

Changing the Order of Folders and Groups

  • Click and drag to change the order of folders and groups in the course.

Publishing a Course

  • Each course is published individually.

Adding Activities and Resources

  1. On the Scope and Sequence tab, select the course and drill down to the standard.

  2. Right-click and select Add New Activity.

  3. Enter a title.

  4. Save, Publish, and Submit (SPS).

Publishing Activities

  • Activities only have to be published once.  Save for any future changes.

Primary Learning Standard

  • Right-click on a standard to move it to the first position in the list to make it the primary standard.

Notes:

  • Keep the number of attachments per activity to a minimum.

  • Copying and pasting from other types of documents can lead to formatting errors.
