# Using the Enter Answers Feature

Enter Answers helps teachers manually input and grade student responses. Manual entry might be necessary in cases where a student completes part of an assessment on paper or through another platform that does not communicate directly with Eduphoria. By entering answers into the system, teachers can ensure that they have digital records of student performance, which can be important for tracking progress and for administrative purposes.

Teachers can use Enter Answers after a student has submitted an assessment online or after their test results have been scanned. In this view, teachers can grade open-ended assessment questions, such as constructed response and text entry, and manually input student answers.

> [!NOTE]
> **Note:**Only the teacher of record can use Enter Answers on their assessments. You cannot access this feature from [Proctor Panel](/v1/docs/proctor-panel).

## **Quick Guide**

1. Select **Administer** ( assignment_turned_in ) from the main menu.
2. On the **Tests Available** tab, click on the **Enter Answers** icon in the row for the test you want to view.
3. Select the checkbox for each class that you want to view and then click **Load Students**.
4. If desired, select one of the shortcut cards on the landing page to filter by:
  - **Students with Unscored Responses**
  - **Constructed Response Items**
  - **Questions with Missing Responses**

In **View by Questions** mode, select **All** **Students** ( group ) for the associated section, or **Search** for a student by name to enter answers for only one student. You can filter to see only the unscored students. Students who are unscored have a bell indicator ( notifications_active ) to the right of their name.

To clear all filters, including the filters in the student search pane, click the **Clear** **Filter** button. This button will take you back to the landing page of the **Enter Answers** view.

To return to the **Tests Available** page, click the back arrow in the top left corner of the screen.

## **Review and Score**

After you are ready to submit student scores, you can click the **Review** **&** **Score** ( rate_review ) button. This button opens a window that shows a list of unscored students and their number of unanswered responses.

![](https://cdn.us.document360.io/d6ce927e-20b2-40ab-af8d-ea0afbbc28f7/Images/Documentation/image(566).png)

To score students, select the check box next to the student name(s), then click **Score** **Selected** **Students**. After a student is scored, the student will have a score under **Analysis**. If the student had unanswered questions, this option will score them as incorrect.

If you want to review a specific student’s answers, you can click on the student’s name to return to **View by Students** and review the unanswered questions.

## AI Scoring in Enter Answers (for Texas Districts)

![Feature specific to Texas school districts highlighted for user awareness and information.](https://cdn.us.document360.io/d6ce927e-20b2-40ab-af8d-ea0afbbc28f7/Images/Documentation/Knowledge Base - Texas banner(5).png)

With Aware Premium, [teachers can access AI Scoring](/v1/docs/using-ai-scoring-teacher) in Enter Answers. When AI Scoring is active on an assessment, teachers can go to **Administer**, find the test with unscored constructed responses, and access the questions via Enter Answers. Follow the usual Enter Answers workflow by selecting your desired courses.

Select the **Score All AI CRs** button to initiate AI Scoring. The system checks for all Constructed Response questions that have AI Scoring available and have not been scored. Responses are then queued and sent to the Large Language Model (LLM) for scoring.

> [!WARNING]
> **Caution:** The LLM scores student responses using the chosen rubric and the embedded reading passage and question from the test in **Author**. Requesting AI scores for Constructed Response questions that are not associated with reading passages and a relevant question will result in highly unreliable and inaccurate scores.

![Enter Answers interface showing the Score All AI CRs button for constructed response answers.](https://cdn.us.document360.io/d6ce927e-20b2-40ab-af8d-ea0afbbc28f7/Images/Documentation/score all ai crs(3).png)

When scores are available, they will appear in individual student and question-level views in Enter Answers. It can take several minutes for AI Scores to return, so feel free to leave Enter Answers or complete another task in Enter Answers while waiting.

> [!TIP]
> **Tip:** The **Score all AI CRs** button becomes unclickable while the system processes a set of responses and remains so until those scores have returned. We recommend that teachers send score requests with batches of student responses, perhaps one time per day, rather than multiple times in one class period. Working in batches ensures a smoother scoring experience and minimizes wait times.

![AI scoring process in progress.](https://cdn.us.document360.io/d6ce927e-20b2-40ab-af8d-ea0afbbc28f7/Images/Documentation/ai scoring in progress.png)

Once scored, the trait scores and total score populate within the individual student and question-level views in Enter Answers.

Once scores are populated, teachers can override rubric scores and save them. Scores that the teacher has manually edited display the **Person** icon ( person ), while an AI Score displays the **AI** icon ( auto_awesome ). At any time, teachers can recover the AI Score by selecting **Revert** if desired. Once the teacher selects **Score Selected Student(s)**, all current scores are sent to Analysis as the final scores.

## **Previews in Enter Answers**

To assist teachers while entering answers, three preview options are available in **View by Students**and**View by Questions**. These previews are for the question, scoring guide (if you entered this information in the assessment), and student notes (if the student has entered notes for the question).

The **Question Preview** button is located in the top right corner of each response. You can click the same button again to close the preview.

![](https://cdn.us.document360.io/d6ce927e-20b2-40ab-af8d-ea0afbbc28f7/Images/Documentation/image(568).png)

The **Scoring Guide** ( assistant ) button for constructed responses is in the center.

![](https://cdn.us.document360.io/d6ce927e-20b2-40ab-af8d-ea0afbbc28f7/Images/Documentation/image(569).png)

The **Student** **Notes** ( notes ) button is on the right.

![student_notes.png](https://cdn.us.document360.io/d6ce927e-20b2-40ab-af8d-ea0afbbc28f7/Images/Documentation/14449550046103.png)

In **View by Questions**( forum ), if the **All Students** ( group ) filter is selected, only the question preview and scoring guide ( assistant ) buttons are located in the top right corner of the list of questions. If a student has written a note, the notes ( notes ) icon appears next to the student's name.
