After completing the Test Creation wizard, the test authoring Interface will appear.
The top left panel includes the name of the test, total number of questions contained on the test and the total number of questions for each level of complexity or Webb's Depth of Knowledge (DOK).
This section includes the total number of questions per learning standard. Hovering on a standard displays the standard text.
This section contains the total number of questions per question type.

This section contains basic details about your test including the following:
- Test Name - The test name can be changed before, during, and after the test administration.
- Subject - The subject area should already be selected based on the primary course chosen. Test data will appear under the subject area on the Analyze tab.
- Test Type - The test will be organized by test type on the Analyze tab.
- Associated Courses - The associated course(s) selected from the curriculum tree determine which learning standards are available for test item tagging.
- Grade Level - The test data will appear by grade level on the Analyze tab. (A state-released test should have correct grade level already selected.)
- Test Creator - This field is not editable.
- Performance Levels - The performance bands default to those set by the district, but the test creator can change these.
- Instructions - Optional testing instructions for students are entered into this field. The instructions will appear on the second page of the test booklet and in the online testing environment.
Associate additional courses to the test by clicking on the Add a Course button and selecting a course from the curriculum tree.
Student testing instructions can be entered in the Instructions text box for students to read before taking printed and online versions of a test.
To make a test unavailable for administration, click the Delete button under the Remove Assessment heading. Previously collected data will remain intact.
Assessments are assigned one of three status choices.
A test in pending status can be edited.
- A test should remain pending until all the questions are associated with standards and the campus and students are selected for the test.
- Teachers will not be able to print answer documents while a test is pending; however, anyone with Data Administrator, Campus Administrator or the Benchmark Printer role will be able to print at any time.
- When a test key is created, the status is pending.
A test in active status cannot be edited.
- Teachers will only be able to print answer documents when
- the test is active,
- the current date falls within the test administration start and end dates, and
- their campus and students have been selected.
- Once the key is entered, associated with student learning standards, and campuses and students selected, the test should be made active.
Note: If a test creator needs to modify a test after it has been made active and answer documents have been printed or online testing started, then the test must be changed back to pending status first. Changes can be made to the test including adding new questions, removing questions, updating answers, associating new student learning standards, etc.
Once the test is completed and ALL documents have been scanned, the test should be archived. Archiving does not prevent the test from being analyzed, but no other answer documents can be scanned in for this test.
- It is recommended that all tests be archived before the next school year.
- If a test is ever reused, it should be copied from the archive so that it can be associated with new students for the current year.
- If the same test is used year after year without creating new test administrations or copies, then the data will merge from year to year.
- Once a test is archived, it can be unarchived by selecting it from the archived section and changing the status to pending or active.
