This article provides guidance on building appraisee types for TIA and managing multiple evaluation processes. For completing the TIA application, this guidance is specific to communicating the local designation system to your stakeholders.
Guidance for Districts Building Appraisee Types
Appraisee Types are created based on the evaluation process used for the job role. Some districts use one teacher type "T-TESS teacher". Other districts have multiple teacher types with different evaluation processes tied to them.
Examples we have seen from a variety of districts:
- T-TESS Teacher Full Evaluation;
- T-TESS Teacher Waiver;
- First Year Teacher Appraisal;
- PPCD Teacher;
- Online/Credit Recovery Teacher
- TIA Teacher Cohort 2, etc.
The separate appraisee types provide guidance to both appraiser and appraisee about the requirements needed to complete for the evaluation year. Each different teacher type would have their associated steps, tasks, documents and due dates provided to ensure understanding of their evaluation process timeline.
Create an Appraisee Type
- In Strive, click on Settings, Appraisal Settings
- Select Appraisee Types
- Click New Appraisee Type at the bottom of the screen
- Enter the name of the Appraisee Type and click Next
- Click Finish to edit the appraisee type
Evaluation Process
The evaluation process includes the steps and tasks completed throughout the school year for a full evaluation. This may vary by district or by appraisee type. To create an evaluation process, follow the steps below.
- In Strive, click Settings, Appraisal Settings
- Select Appraisee Types
- Click the name of Appraisee type previously created
- Select T-TESS Framework
- Select New and New Step to create first step in the process
- Title your step and select Update
- Select Task and New Task to create first task within your first step
- Title your task and Select Task Type. Note: everything has a task type of documents except for professional and student growth goals, unless a district decides to use their own document to record goals.
- Select Due Date and indicate if required
- Select Update
- Repeat these steps to build your evaluation process
Eduphoria has created evaluation templates. These templates are located in the Eduphoria Community and are distinguished by asterisks. Districts may import T-TESS evaluation, walkthrough, and observation templates and select them to be used in the appropriate step/task of their evaluation process.
