Science and Social Studies STAAR Released Test questions and full assessments have been realigned to reflect the 2021 Science standards (implemented in 2024/2025) and 2022 Social Studies standards (implemented in 2024/2025). Now, when searching the item bank for STAAR Released Test Science and Social Studies items aligned to the newest standards, questions from the 2023 and 2024 STAAR Released Tests will be available.
While all questions for the 2023 and 2024 STAAR Released Tests are available on the prebuilt assessments, not every question will be aligned with the latest standards. These questions, however, are still included for potential instructional use or reference. For additional details, see the FAQ below.
Update April 1, 2025: Biology – As previous year STAAR tests for 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 were realigned to the new 2021 Science standards (implemented in 2024/2025), the reporting categories for questions from the Biology prebuilt tests and items (for the above mentioned years) have also been realigned to the 2024-2025 STAAR Biology assessed curriculum.

TEA Resources including Social Studies skills matrix and crosswalks and Science TEKS Side by Side Documents were used to complete this realignment.
When searching for 2024 STAAR Released Test items in the item bank, why aren’t all questions being displayed?
The items that did not have an aligned 2021 Science standard or an aligned 2022 Social Studies standard were left with the previous standard alignment. As a district-level setting, you would need to have the older standards available to access the missing questions.
Why am I unable to search STAAR items prior to 2023?
The realignment project was only completed on 2023 and 2024 STAAR Items. Questions available within the item bank are determined by which standards are made available at the district level. If your district does not have old standards available within Aware then you will not be able to access questions tied to old standards within the item bank.
