The table below explains the meanings and usage of icons that appear throughout Beacon.

Switch Applications

Allows you to swap between Eduphoria applications or access the Applications Home.

Help

Opens the knowledge base where you can access tutorials and search for more information about specific topics in Eduphoria applications. (That’s where you are now!)

My Planner

Use My Planner to organize preps, create plans, and view your schedule on a daily or weekly basis.

Templates

Templates help other users quickly build out new curriculum content, such as courses, units, and lessons.

Courses

Courses are structured programs of instruction centered on a specific subject and grade level.

Strategies

Strategies are tags that can be applied to lessons and preps.

Attachments

Any document or attachment associated with a curriculum component.

Relationships

Standards, strategies, files, and other curriculum components that are linked to the component that you are viewing.

Information

Displays additional details such as the curriculum component’s duration, information, and a table of contents.

Expand

Expands a section or row to show additional information or options.


Collapse

Collapses a section or row to hide additional information or options.

Preview

Opens the component in a preview window.

Color Palette

Allows you to filter color coded blocks on the Planner.

Planner Orientation

Changes the Planner to be in vertical or horizontal orientation.

Calendar

Opens a calendar where you can select a specific date and display information based on that date.

Search

Allows you to filter a list or table to show entries matching the search criteria.

More Actions

Expands a drop-down menu containing more options.


Add

Opens a window where you can enter information to create something new.

Import

Opens a file manager window where you can select a file to upload to Beacon.

Link Existing

Allows you to link a resource that has already been uploaded to Beacon.

Edit

Allows you to make changes to the selected item.

Delete

Deletes the selected item.

Move

Click and drag to change the order in which things appear.

Editor

The Editor is a built-in word processor within Beacon. This handy tool allows you to create documents such as templates, course syllabi, unit outlines, lessons, activities, and more.

PDF

Indicates that the file is a PDF. Selecting a PDF file opens the file in the Attachment Viewer. See the Attachment Viewer section below for more information.

Favorite / Primary

Indicates that the item has been marked as a favorite or as a primary file.

Tags

Tags are used in Templates to help identify and quickly locate certain templates using key terms.

Bold

Applies bold formatting to text.

Italic

Applies italic formatting to text.

Underline

Underlines text.

Link

Indicates a linked item or allows you to create a hyperlink from highlighted text, depending on context.

Unlink

Removes the relationship between two linked items.

Font Color

Allows you to change the font color.

Highlight

Applies highlights to text.

Eyedropper

Used to select a color, most often used to apply a color to fonts or highlights.

Bullet List

Starts a bulleted list.

Numbered List

Starts a numbered list.

Image

Opens a file manager window where you can select an image to insert or attach.

Table

Inserts a table.

Standard

Indicates a standard or a section for standards.

Unit

Indicates a unit or a section for units.

Lesson

Indicates a lesson or a section for lessons.

Resource

Indicates a resource or a section for resources.

Assessments

Indicates an Aware assessment or a section for Aware assessments.

Open

Opens a unit or lesson in a new tab.

Icons in the Attachment Viewer

Menu

Expands or collapses the page navigation menu.

Page

Displays the current page number and the total number of pages in the attachment. You can enter a number in the current page field to jump to a certain page.

Zoom

Adjusts the zoom by increments. Use the plus sign to zoom in, use the minus sign to zoom out, or enter a percentage in the center to adjust the zoom.

Fit to Page

Adjusts the zoom so that the entire page can be seen in the viewer window.

Fit to Width

Adjusts the zoom so that the width of the page matches the width of the viewer window.

Rotate

Rotates the attachment counterclockwise by 90 degrees.

Download

Downloads the file to your device.

Print

Opens the Print window, allowing you to print the file.

More actions

Expands a drop-down menu with the following options:

  • Two page view – Displays two pages at once.

  • Annotations – Turns annotations on or off.

  • Present – Opens the file in presentation mode. This option is not available in the Beacon attachment viewer.

  • Document properties – Displays file information.
