What is ClassLink OneRoster and why use it?

OneRoster is a technical standard used by ClassLink to securely share roster data (students, teachers, and classes) from the SIS with Eduphoria. This tool pulls SIS roster data directly from ClassLink and uses it to update your rosters in Eduphoria. This ensures that SIS data is synced with Eduphoria, and students are associated with the correct teachers and courses. It replaces the use of the Eduphoria Remote Roster Tool.

What is the difference between ClassLink OneRoster and the Remote Roster Tool?

The difference between rostering with ClassLink OneRoster and rostering with the Eduphoria Remote Roster Tool is the process in which roster data is imported. Both options offer secure transport of data, and the method in which you import roster data does not impact what type of data appears. As long as the same data is being shared with both methods, there is no change in the teacher, student, or scheduling records.

The Remote Roster Tool performs daily roster file uploads to Eduphoria, which is set up as a scheduled task to automate the process. The setup and any required maintenance of the scheduled task is performed by the district. The Remote Roster Tool only works on devices that run Windows OS.

Rostering with ClassLink OneRoster provides a direct connection between ClassLink and Eduphoria. Once the SIS data is shared through the ClassLink Roster Server, our team can review your district's set up and identify any potential changes needed before enabling the integration. Once the integration is enabled, Eduphoria automatically syncs your district's roster data each night based on what is shared through ClassLink. ClassLink OneRoster works on most operating systems, which makes this option a good alternative if your district predominately uses devices that run Mac OS.

How do I set up OneRoster?

If you are interested in ClassLink OneRoster, begin by enabling data sharing with Eduphoria through ClassLink, then we will do a data audit to ensure the data is compatible. If there are issues, we will reach out for potential clarification or recommendations. If everything looks good, we will ask for confirmation from the district before we "flip the switch". Together, we (Eduphoria and the district) will monitor user data for a few days, to keep an eye out for any discrepancies.

Will rostering through ClassLink impact our current data?

Due to the possibility of data interruption, our policy is to implement new OneRoster districts over summer break. This helps guard against potential data issues.

What is the best time of year to start using the ClassLink OneRoster integration?

Due to the possibility of data interruption, our policy is to implement new OneRoster districts over summer break. This helps guard against potential data issues.

Will there be any changes to the cost of the program if we change rostering methods?

No, there is no additional cost for using ClassLink integrations with Eduphoria.

Is there any custom metadata that needs to be added to our ClassLink files?

Eduphoria supports custom demographics (504, At Risk, GT, etc) which require metadata work. However, if your district will not be importing custom demographics, no additional metadata is required.

What is ClassLink SSO and why use it?

ClassLink Single Sign-On (SSO) is a more streamlined login experience for staff and students. When a student or staff member log into their ClassLink Launchpad, they simply click the Eduphoria icon and are automatically logged in, allowing for quicker login and fewer passwords to memorize.

Can our district use both ClassLink OneRoster and ClassLink SSO?

Yes! OneRoster can automatically sync SIS roster data while SSO assists users with a speedy login experience, providing the most streamlined experience.

OneRoster creates the student's account and puts them in the right class. SSO lets that student log in to take their test without needing a separate password.

Note: In order to enable ClassLink SSO for students, it must also be enabled for staff

We recommend making changes over the summer to prevent any access interruptions for staff and students during the active school year.
