Rating Your Confidence for Test Answers

Prev Next

As you take a test, you may see a large Smiley Face icon at the bottom of each question. Clicking on the icon will allow you to rate how confident you are about your answer. Participating in Confidence Rating is completely optional and will not affect your grade. Feel free to rate your confidence for all questions, some questions, or none at all.

Above all, be sure to always focus on answering your test questions before rating your confidence of your answer. Securing your test score is most important.

How to Use Confidence Ratings

Step 1: Answer test questions as usual.

Step 2: Click on the smiley face icon to choose between three confidence ratings:

  • i_got_it_smiley_face.png I got it / Muy seguro

  • i_m_almost_there_smiley_face.png I’m almost there / Casi lo entiendo

  • i_m_still_learning_smiley_face.png I’m still learning / Sigo aprendiendo

If you’re feeling extremely confident about your answer, choose i_got_it_smiley_face.png I got it / Muy seguro.

If you’re partially confident about your answer, choose i_m_almost_there_smiley_face.png I’m almost there / Casi lo entiendo.

If you’re not confident about your answer, choose i_m_still_learning_smiley_face.png I’m still learning / Sigo aprendiendo.

The smiley face icon will change expressions and its color based on which selection you make. You will be able to change your confidence rating any time before submitting your test.

Step 3: Continue on to other questions or skip the option to submit a confident rating.

Why Should You Rate Your Answer Confidence?

Rating your confidence about your answers allows you to articulate your strengths and make progress in material you are still learning. Each confidence rating you submit gives your teacher insight into your instructional understanding. This allows you both to celebrate your successes and work together on fostering greater understanding for material you are less sure about.

In order to be effective, you must reflect on your confidence as honestly as possible. However, don’t overthink it. As previously stated, your confidence choices will not affect your grade, and answering your test questions should always come first.
