The Scripted Comments feature provides a dedicated space for evaluators to document their observations before or during evaluations. Visible only to the evaluator, this open text box can be used in a variety of ways. Here are a few examples of how evaluators might make use of scripted comments:
Before the evaluation, type a list of key tasks to complete or questions that you want to ask the staff member so that you can easily reference these reminders on the day of the evaluation.
Copy in an outline to ensure uniformity by providing a consistent framework for documenting observations.
During the evaluation, use this space to record your observations. Make notes of classroom cleanliness, how the teacher engages the students, and so on.
After the evaluation, copy your notes from the text box and paste them into the relevant sections in the formal evaluation structure. For example, you might copy comments that inform areas of strength or opportunities for improvement into the conclusion of the evaluation document.
You can also later reference your comments to facilitate meaningful dialogue between evaluators and staff members regarding performance and growth.
By using scripted comments, evaluators can freely record thoughts and insights alongside the formal evaluation structure. They not only enhance the integrity of the evaluation but also support ongoing professional learning.
Note: Scripted comments remain confidential throughout the life of the document and are only visible to the evaluator. Scripted comments are preserved even after the document is archived. This ensures that evaluators can always refer back to their notes when needed.
