General Interactive Items
Q: Do all student supports work with interactive response question types?
A: All supports will work with interactive item types. Content clarifiers work with the question stem and cannot be created where the Add Placeholder Response option has been used to embed an answer choice.
Q: Can interactive item types be used on math assessments?
A: Yes! Check out each interactive item type for guidelines on including equations in question and answer choices. The Texas Education Agency’s STAAR redesign website offers guidance on how math assessments incorporate interactive response questions.
Q: Will third-party item bank vendors' interactive item types be available for use on assessments?
A: Yes! The TEKSbank and Mastery by Instructure items for interactive response questions will pull into the item/test editor where they are aligned. These can also be edited as desired.
Q: Why are assessments with interactive item types not recommended for printing?
A: Interactive items are questions created for an online environment. Printing this question type creates a different test environment and should not be directly compared to students who took the test online. Therefore, if a paper assessment is needed, it is best practice to create a paper version by rewriting interactive items as different question types. Tests with interactive item types can be printed only in draft form for previewing and collaborating.
Note: The printed draft shows correct answers and is not meant to function as a student assessment.
Q: When will other interactive item types be available?
A: Learn more about Eduphoria's interactive item type roadmap.
Scoring
Q: Are questions either correct or incorrect? What if a student gets part of the question correct?
A: Aware offers four types of scoring: point per task, partial credit, correct/incorrect, and dependency. Test creators can adjust scoring options when creating assessments and learn how Selecting Scoring Rules for Assessments align with STAAR redesign options.
Q: Is it possible to allow teachers to modify and score student answers for a constructed response or text entry question?
A: Teachers will always be able to use the Mark as Correct button for text entry questions. This function is similar to how teachers can modify a scanned bubble sheet. If a student double bubbles or can't erase an accidental selection, the teacher can still modify that answer before the score is recorded.
Q: Is it possible to prevent teachers from modifying student answers for a constructed response or text entry question?
A: It is not possible to prevent teachers from being able to modify student answers on constructed response or text entry questions.
