Copying a Plan

Copying a plan from one date to another, from year-to-year, or across preps allows you to reuse or adapt existing plans without needing to recreate them from scratch. While it is important to adjust instruction to suit each new group of students, it can be helpful to recycle the same structures and strategies that proved successful in previous years.

Example 1: Copying a Plan Within the Same Year and Prep

Your review day plan for Unit 1 went over well, so you want to follow the same structure and strategies for your Unit 2 review. Instead of navigating back to Unit 1 and trying to manually copy and paste each content block, you can copy the whole plan and then edit your content blocks as needed to create your new plan for Unit 2.

Example 2: Copying a Plan From a Prior Year

Your introductory lesson for Unit 1 was popular with students last year, so you want to do the same for this school year. Instead of recreating each content block, you can copy the whole plan and then edit your content blocks as needed to fit the needs of your new students.

Example 3: Copying a Plan From Another Prep

You teach Algebra 1 and Pre-Algebra. You finished this week’s lesson plans for Pre-Algebra and then copy them into your planner for Algebra 1 because you will teach the same concept in both but with enriched content for Algebra 1. As you copy plans from Pre-Algebra to Algebra 1, you make small changes to your plans to best suit the unique makeup of students in each class.

Copying plans can help you save time, maintain consistency, and create different versions of plans where needed.

Note: You cannot edit planners from past years. Once the end date of an instructional calendar has passed, the calendar is locked, and you can no longer make changes to preps, plans, or units for that year. If you want to reuse an older plan, you can copy plans from a past year to an active planner then make adjustments to the plan as needed.

Select My Planners from the main menu.
Open prep for the plan you want to copy.
Select the Duplicate plan icon ( file_copy ) that appears below the content blocks in your plan.
Choose an empty instructional day from the calendar menu and then select Duplicate.

Copying a Plan From a Prior Year

Select My Planners from the main menu.
Open the current year prep to which you want to copy the prior year plan.
Select Copy Plans From and then choose the instructional calendar year that contains the plan you want to copy.
Use the Prep drop-down and the calendar menu in the Copy from [year] Planner window to locate the plan you want to copy. Then, select Copy to [date].

Copying a Plan From Another Prep

Select My Planners from the main menu.
Open the current year prep to which you want to copy the prior year plan.
Select Copy Plans From and then choose the instructional calendar year that contains the plan you want to copy.
Use the Prep drop-down and the calendar menu in the Copy from [year] Planner window to locate the plan you want to copy. Then, select Copy to [date].

Step 1: Select My Planners from the main menu.

Step 2: Open prep that contains the plan you want to copy.

Step 3: Locate the plan you want to copy and select the Duplicate plan icon ( file_copy ) that appears below the content blocks in your plan.

Step 4: Choose an empty instructional day from the calendar menu and then select Duplicate to confirm. A copy of the plan now appears in the planner on the new instructional day.

Copying a Plan From a Prior Year

Step 1: Select My Planners from the main menu.

Step 2: Open the current year prep to which you want to copy the prior year plan.

Step 3: Locate the instructional day to which you want to copy the plan then select Copy Plans From from the template options and then choose the instructional calendar year that contains the plan you want to copy.

Caution: The template options only appear if no content blocks have been added to the plan. If any content blocks exist, you must delete the plan to make the Copy Plans From option available. Deleting a plan is a permanent and irreversible action. Be certain that you want to permanently delete the content blocks on this date before deleting the plan. If you want to save your content blocks but still want to copy a plan from the previous year to this date, consider moving the plan instead of deleting it.

Step 4: In the Copy from [year] Planner window, find the plan you want to copy:

Ensure that the correct prep is selected in the Prep drop-down menu.
Use the calendar menu to choose the date from which you want to copy a plan. A blue dot indicates that a plan exists for that date.
Review the plan in the preview window to confirm and then select Copy to [date].

A copy of the selected plan now appears in the chosen date in your planner.

Copying a Plan From Another Prep

Step 1: Select My Planners from the main menu.

Step 2: Open the current year prep to which you want to copy the prior year plan.

Caution: The template options only appear if no content blocks have been added to the plan. If any content blocks exist, you must delete the plan to make the Copy Plans From option available. Deleting a plan is a permanent and irreversible action. Be certain that you want to permanently delete the content blocks on this date before deleting the plan. If you want to save your content blocks but still want to copy a plan from the previous year to this date, consider moving the plan instead of deleting it.

Step 4: In the Copy from [year] Planner window, find the plan you want to copy:
