Questions & Resources

The Questions & Resources screen in Aware allows users to search, create, and manage the questions and resources in the local item bank. Whether designing new tests or modifying existing ones, educators can efficiently organize question banks and supplemental materials to support data-driven instruction and improve student learning outcomes. The intuitive layout and filtering tools make it easy to locate, categorize, and reuse resources across multiple assessments and instructional cycles.

Questions are the numbered test items that are scored in an assessment.
Resources refer to any item that helps students answer a question, such as a graph or reading passage.

While you can create assessment questions for individual tests in Author, adding a question to the local item bank allows it to be shared across the school or district and used over and over again. You can also set up approval processes in Item Bank Settings to ensure all items are properly reviewed before getting added to the bank. A robust item bank ensures alignment and can save valuable time when creating assessments.

Accessing Questions & Resources

Select Questions & Resources from the Item Bank section of the main menu.

Note: All users have access to the Questions & Resources option in the main menu. Visibility for each item is controlled by the security settings on the item bank.

Searching the Item Bank by Course

The panel on the left side of the screen allows you to search the local item bank by course. Expand ( keyboard_arrow_right ) the sections to browse the list manually or type the name of a course, subject, or grade level in the Filter by course name field to show all courses that match your search criteria. Selecting the Reset button clears the search field and returns the course list to the default view. Select a course to search the available questions and resources.

Select the star icon ( star_outline ) next to a course to save it as a favorite. You favorite courses appear in a short list on the right side of the screen, allowing you to more quickly access the courses that you use the most.

The course list also contains an entry titled My Questions & Resources, which allows you to add items to the local item bank and manage any questions or resources that you created as long as they are still pending approval. Once an item has been approved and published to the local item bank, it can no longer be edited. For more information, see Creating and Managing Questions in the Local Item Bank.
