The Questions & Resources screen in Aware allows users to search, create, and manage the questions and resources in the local item bank. Whether designing new tests or modifying existing ones, educators can efficiently organize question banks and supplemental materials to support data-driven instruction and improve student learning outcomes. The intuitive layout and filtering tools make it easy to locate, categorize, and reuse resources across multiple assessments and instructional cycles.
Questions are the numbered test items that are scored in an assessment.
Resources refer to any item that helps students answer a question, such as a graph or reading passage.
While you can create assessment questions for individual tests in Author, adding a question to the local item bank allows it to be shared across the school or district and used over and over again. You can also set up approval processes in Item Bank Settings to ensure all items are properly reviewed before getting added to the bank. A robust item bank ensures alignment and can save valuable time when creating assessments.

Note: All users have access to the Questions & Resources option in the main menu. Visibility for each item is controlled by the security settings on the item bank.
Searching the Item Bank
The panel on the left side of the screen allows you to search the local item bank by subject and grade level. Use the Subjects and Grade Levels drop-down menus to filter the list or search for a specific standard set by typing in the Search bar (). Selecting Reset Filters clears the Subjects, Grade Levels, and Search filters.
The Favorites drop-down menu expands a quick access list of all standard sets that you have marked as a favorite (). Selecting a standard set from this list adds the complete standard set to the Selected Items panel. Selecting the Delete icon () removes the set from your Favorites list.
My Items () opens the My Questions & Resources screen, which allows you to view and add items to the local item bank and manage any questions or resources that you created as long as they are still pending approval. Once an item has been approved and published to the local item bank, it can no longer be edited. For more information, see Creating and Managing Questions in the Local Item Bank.

The list updates to show standard sets that match your filters. Once you identify a standard set, you can select the entire standard set by selecting the checkbox () or expand () the set to select individual standards.
Note: Selecting an entire standard set will show all items for all standards in that standard set.

Your selections appear in the Selected Items panel on the right.
Selecting the Delete icon () removes the standard set or individual standard from your Selected Items.
Note: There is a maximum of 100 items that can be selected. This includes individual standards or standard sets. An entire standard set counts as one item. If an entire standard set is selected, you cannot select individual standards within that set as those items are already included in the set.
