Reviewing Questions, Resources, and Prebuilt Tests

It is important to review questions, resources, and prebuilt tests after each import to ensure the validity of each item and that it meets the qualifications for your local assessment program before it is used in an assessment.

Conditions to Keep in Mind:

  • If a package includes external links to resources (audio, video, images, etc.) as part of the question, the links will not work with LockDown Browser.

  • Some item types can be rendered by our software, but we do not support the ability to edit those items. Examples include but are not limited to polygonal hot spot shapes and drag-and-drop items to images.

Tips:

  • When creating a new custom item bank, do not make any selections in the Access Permissions step. This means that only users with the Manage Custom Item Banks right can see the items, allowing time to review items carefully before anyone adds the item to an assessment. You can always turn these permissions on later.

  • If the bank already exists and you want to add more items. Turn off the Access Permissions for the custom item bank before loading the new item packages. This hides prebuilt assessments from other users and blocks items from being added to assessments. It does not hide items that already exist in assessments from that bank. Once the review of the new items is complete, turn these permissions back on.

  • When adjusting permissions, we recommend that you perform these steps after hours when the fewer people are trying to build assessments.

Reviewing Prebuilt Assessments

  1. Select the Item Bank Settings gear icon ( settings ).

  2. Choose Manage Custom Banks.

  3. On the Custom Item Banks screen, select the item bank to review.

  6. From here, you can perform the following actions:

    1. To preview an item, select the Item ID. When finished, you can close the preview or use the Previous and Next buttons to view more test items.

    2. To delete an item, select Delete in the Actions column of the item row. Then, confirm that you want to delete the item.

Note: Deleting items from this tab does not delete the item from the custom item bank. It will only disassociate that item from the prebuilt assessment.

    3. To delete the entire prebuilt assessment, return to the Prebuilts tab and then select Delete in the Actions column of the prebuilt assessment row.

Note: Deleting the prebuilt test does not delete items from the custom item bank. It only disassociates the items from the prebuilt assessment.

Prebuilt assessments that do not contain any items are not automatically deleted. If all items are deleted from the prebuilt assessment, it is possible for an empty prebuilt assessment to appear in the Prebuilts table. If you need to delete a prebuilt test, you must delete it from the prebuilt tab.

Note: Prebuilt tests that do not have a grade level assigned to them in the QTI package are assigned All Grade Levels. When searching for prebuilt assessments after import, filter by the assumed grade level or select the All Grade Levels option.
