Penalty scoring has new scoring revisions. Penalty scoring applies only on Multiple Selection, Hot Spot, and Hot Text items. If point per task scoring is assigned to an item, students receive a point for each correct response. If there are three correct answers and a student selects all five answer choices, the student will have points deducted. Students never receive a negative point value from a point per task item since point values never drop below zero.
Single Test Analysis provides interactive graphs of a single local Aware assessment. Each assessment is broken down by questions, standards, and student demographics featuring live data in real-time as assessments are scored.
Check out Navigating to Student Formsto access Student Forms through Aware Beta’s new filters and via Aware Classic. The drop-down tree behavior for Student Forms has been replaced with a table that has filter, search, and sort functionality.
The Inequality Graphing TEI is here! Inequality graphing allows students to plot one or two dashed or solid lines and choose a region to represent the solution set of an inequality.
Equation Editor is available for Text Entry TEI items. Students will see the text entry question during online testing, and the equation editor will appear once they click on a text box. Per the TEA’s standards, the Elementary Math Editor is intended for grades K-5 and the Secondary Math Editor is intended for grades 6-12.
Special characters are available for Constructed Response interactive item types. Students can use the rich text editor to format item responses including inserting special characters.
Hot Spot TEI will now allow test creators to limit answer choices for students!
Students can select from multiple color options when using the highlight feature on a test. Highlighting comes in yellow, orange, mint green, and lavender.
Aware
Assessments
Adding a resource from the STAAR Item Bank will no longer produce an error. Resources are for everyone.
Users will no longer be kicked to the top of the page while using Aware. The screen would automatically jump to the top when a user edited a question or added a content clarifier. Students were also affected when they highlighted within a resource on an assessment. Now, everyone’s staying put and staying focused.
We resolved a correct answer issue for Text Entry items using an Equation Editor. The system marked Equation Editor entries as answered even though students weren’t putting an answer in the placeholder section.
Images will not invert colors regardless of color theme. White on Black and Gray on Black color themes were inverting images that are black and white or grayscale, which adversely affected answer choices. For example, a student may need to select the correct number of black squares out of white squares, but applying a color theme swapped those colors and changed how students would answer the question.
Students can review their Score Summary during set summary window dates. We resolved a bug that caused the Score Summary to show only during the administration window of a test. No cheating allowed!
Data View
Teachers are linked to students on the Upload Roster from the Previous Year file. Initially, the system was not importing teacher and course information properly. We all have our off days.
A server error will not appear when viewing individual student STAAR data. Users experienced a server error on the Test and Scores tab when clicking on a student.
We have restored data views for the Individual Student Responses template. Teachers and administrations experienced a blank view when analyzing Individual Student Responses on a test after selecting Individual View. Rescoring fixes the issue.

The Teacher Academic Growth Template shows data in the correct columns. When teachers pulled the template, it displayed correct data in the wrong columns within the Student Data tab.
Administrators can see student names in the Campus Subcluster Intervention Report. What was happening before? Not a vibe.
Student Online Testing
We have updated the rich text box size for Constructed Response items. The default text box size is now five lines. This change improves writing and formatting visibility for students using iPads and other touchscreen displays that aren’t enabled to drag and resize the box.
The Constructed Response text box will remain unshrunk when previewing. Clicking on the text box in the Preview Online Test modal and Tests Available would shrink the box to show no line. The text box no longer disappears and is fully expandable. Now, that’s what we call constructive!
Upload Test File
We have resolved an issue preventing users from importing the 2022 BOY/Interim Assessments. Reimport now to get this year’s sweet, sweet files.
Strive
Evaluation Process
Guest accounts can enroll in Strive Professional Development Courses. We’ve resolved an error that caused guests to experience a loading circle after selecting Enroll. Refreshing or leaving the page would not enroll the guest account user in the course. Go forth and get that teach cred.
Reports
Filtering a Custom Professional Development Report by date works as intended. Users received a server error message when filtering one of the report areas by start date. The Equals qualifier was not pulling any data into the report with date filters applied. Brings a new meaning to “save the date,” huh?
